Tender support for UK care providers

Care tenders, written the way councils score them

Bid writing for care providers by a former council evaluator. We write against the marking scheme, for a fixed fee. We also help new services get set up, and existing ones keep the contracts they win.

How councils score your bid

Most care tenders are won or lost between a 3 and a 5

Councils mark each quality answer against a published scale, usually 0 to 5, then apply the question's weighting. We've done that marking for a council. This is what the evaluator is looking for.

  1. 0Unacceptable
  2. 1Poor
  3. 2Weak
  4. 3Satisfactory
  5. 4Good
  6. 5Excellent

3Satisfactory: says what you will do

Meets the requirement, in general terms.

“All staff complete safeguarding training and concerns are reported to the manager.”

5Excellent: shows how, and proves it

Who does what, how often, and how you know it is working.

“Every worker completes Level 2 safeguarding before their first shift, refreshed yearly. The registered manager reviews each concern within 24 hours and reports themes to the council's safeguarding lead every quarter.”

Three reasons answers lose marks

  1. Answering a different questionThe specification asks five things and the answer covers three. Evaluators mark what was asked, not what was written.
  2. Promises without proofNo names, numbers, frequencies or examples, so there is nothing to award the higher marks for.
  3. It could be any providerGeneric text with no sign of your service, your area or the people you support.

How it works

Three steps, one fixed price

    Send us the tender

Share the documents and the closing date. We start with the specification and the marking scheme.

    Agree a fixed fee

A short scoping call, then a fixed price in writing before any work begins. No hourly meter.

  3. 03

    We write, you approve

Drafts built around what scores, checked against every instruction in the tender before you submit.

Questions providers ask

Care tender writing, answered

What kinds of tender do you write?

Full tender submissions and method statements, selection questionnaires (SQs and PQQs), applications to dynamic purchasing systems (DPS), dynamic markets and frameworks, and social value answers for local authority care contracts. We also review bids you have written yourselves.

Which care services do you cover?

Adult social care: care homes (residential and nursing), supported living for adults with learning disabilities, autism or mental health needs, and home care, including reablement and extra care. Children's services: children's homes, and Ofsted-regulated supported accommodation for 16 and 17-year-olds and care leavers.

Do you write care home tenders?

Yes. We write for residential and nursing care homes bidding onto council frameworks, block contracts and approved provider lists, including the quality and pricing schedules those tenders ask for.

How much does it cost?

Every job is a fixed fee, agreed in writing after a short scoping call. A bid/no-bid view is £150, a DPS or framework application starts at £500 and a full tender starts at £1,500. The price depends on the number of questions, the word limits and how much existing material you already have. There is no hourly billing. See all prices.

Is the first tender really £850?

Yes. Your first full tender with us is £850 for up to 8 quality answers, so you can see how we work before paying the full rate. Larger tenders get the same £650 off. From your second tender, prices start at £1,500, agreed in writing after a short scoping call.

How much notice do you need before the deadline?

As much as you can give. Get in touch as soon as a tender is published and we will tell you straight away whether the timescale is workable, and whether the opportunity is worth bidding for at all. Or call us on 07743 233 029 (Mon to Fri, 09:00 to 17:30 UK).

Can you review a bid we have already written?

Yes. We read your draft the way a council evaluator would, against the published marking scheme, and show you where it is likely to lose marks and how to fix it before you submit.

Can you help after we win the contract?

Yes. Our quality assurance support gets you ready for the council's contract monitoring, seen from the commissioner's side: preparing for quality-assurance and monitoring visits, including a rehearsal; your KPI and monitoring returns; self-assessment against the council's provider quality framework; and the improvement plan if a visit goes badly. It is priced after a short call.

Can you help us set up a new children's home?

Yes. We help you get ready to register with Ofsted and to be commissioned: your Statement of Purpose, policies mapped to the regulations, location risk assessment, fit-person interview preparation, and which councils to approach. Ofsted makes the registration decision, so we never promise an outcome or a timescale.

Do you work with CQC-registered services?

Yes. We write tenders for supported living, home care and care homes, and help existing services prepare for CQC inspection and council monitoring visits.

Will you write for our competitors?

We never write for two providers bidding for the same lot. We check for conflicts before we quote, and if we are already working with someone on that lot, we tell you straight away.

Will our information stay confidential?

Yes. Your documents are used only for your bid, are never shared outside the two of us and are never reused for another client. We are happy to sign your non-disclosure agreement.
